'Hi mum, this is my new number'
An unknown number claims to be your child with a broken phone. Then comes an urgent invoice you should 'just quickly' transfer — to an unfamiliar account. Warning signs: New number, calls are refused; Urgent payment, the recipient is a stranger; No video call, excuses when you ask questions. What to do: Call your child on the old number. If you already transferred: call your bank immediately and request a recall. Typical loss: 500–5.000 €.
