Fake PayPal payment confirmation with a 'support number'

A convincing email confirms a payment of several hundred euros you never made. Instead of a link it lists a phone number. On the phone 'support' walks you through a refund — and has you install remote-access software. Warning signs: A phone number instead of a link (bypasses spam filters); A payment you do not recognise; Request to install AnyDesk/TeamViewer; Sender address is not an official domain. What to do: Do not call. Check payments only in the official PayPal app. If remote software was installed: disconnect the device and change passwords from another one. Typical loss: 200–20.000 €.
