'Prosecutor': pay your fine now with gift cards
A call or email threatens an arrest warrant for alleged offences. To 'avoid' it you should read out Paysafecard, Steam or Amazon codes. Once the codes are read out the money is gone. Warning signs: No authority ever asks for gift cards; Threat of immediate arrest; You are told not to talk to anyone; The caller ID looks genuine (spoofing). What to do: Hang up. Ask the card issuer to freeze the codes immediately, keep the receipt and file a report. Typical loss: 100–3.000 €.
